Barn Quilt Restoration I recently was commissioned to restore a barn quilt for a customer of  mine. I really enjoyed bringing this barn quilt back to life. She really loves UNC-Chapel Hill Tarheel basketball. It was a joy to see her so happy with the finished product.   This first image, is of the first barn quilt before it was complete d. The second image is of the same barn quilt restored the way she wanted it. I thought it showed well on the side of her shed. It certainly makes a statement! She also had me paint her a new 24" x 24"  UNC barn quilt. She hung it beside her front door and I love the way it looks. Very pretty on her porch! It is painted in outdoor latex paint and finished with polyurethane. The back is all Carolina Blue. I accept commissions to make a barn quilt for your favorite team! ( price may vary) Price for this barn quilt is $125

Summer Creations This summer has been slightly different with the pandemic. I have given up my art classes, but I am continuing to create at home. Ever since I saw a Barn Quilt under a mailbox on my way to Clarksville, I have wanted to paint one for our mailbox. Well, guess what? I finally did it! I finished it yesterday. When I hang it under my mailbox, I will take a photo of it. It is two sided. The same on each side. The reason I have a pig in the middle, is because my husband raises show pigs. These are for sale for $50 plus shipping. I will put some eye hooks on top for hanging. Portraits I have been drawing and painting portraits of my grandchildren. It is very challenging, but it's very inspiring! Barn Quilt Kit Another project I took on this summer was creating a Barn Quilt Kit. I am selling this in my Etsy.com store at https://www.etsy.com/shop/NancyPeeleCreations. The painted board is an example. A primed white board is included in the kit, materials, a pattern, and dire

Resurrection Creations

Resurrection Creations To day is Good Friday and we are in the middle of a pandemic with the Corona Vjrus. Jesus certainly suffered a terrible death for us after having been tortured beyond anyone's imagination. The Good News is He did not stay dead in his tomb, but He came back to life 3 days later. He understands all that people are going through this weekend: all of the suffering, sickness, hard work, tiredness, and strife. He will comfort you and help you through this time if you want Him to, When He came out of the tomb, He showed Himself to people He knew. They watched as He ascended into heaven. That is our Hope in Christ Jesus if we accept Him and His love for you and me. Revelation 21:4 ( About Heaven) And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Chippy Clapboard Welcome Signs

Image
I recently bought two 32 inch x 6 inch by 1/2 inch boards at a very cool salvage and antique shop in our area. I made a WELCOME sign out of each of them. I ran off some letters on my computer, printed them, cut them out, then traced them on the front of each board. I painted the letters with black acrylic paint, then sprayed each board with polyurethane. Chippy Vintage Board Welcome Sign Chippy Board Welcome Signs

New Barn Quilts! North Carolina Star Pattern

Image
https://www.facebook.com/nancydavispeeleart I taught two Barn Quilt classes at the Oxford Senior Center in Oxford, North Carolina this past month of January, 2019. It was so much fun with the ladies who attended. It seemed so challenging to them at first, but after they drew their barn quilt pattern and learned how to do the taping, they really enjoyed working so hard. The results were amazing! Here are two of my Barn Quilts that I painted with these two classes. I started with a plywood 2 ft. x 2 ft. board and sanded down the rough spots. I painted two coats of latex exterior primer on each board, front and back. I then drew my pattern from a paper drawn pattern where I compared the measurements. I would use 1 inch graph paper next time to make it easier to measure. After I drew the pattern on the board, I  looked at my paper pattern and played with color combinations. After choosing the combination, I began taking painters tape and laying it down on the opposite side of the shape I w
